Sunrise at Bow Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta
Sunrise at Bow Lake, Banff National Park, AlbertaI've decided to upload Bow Lake photo #5 instead of #s 3 and 4. Mostly because I don't want to wait for almost a week to share this one, which I think is my favorite out of all of them. When I shot this, I was actually walking back to the van. I decided to go back to the lake and walk around a corner I hadn't explored yet and saw this frost covered branch just lying there so I thought it might make an interesting piece of foreground to compliment the sunlight, fog and reflection of the Crowfoot Mountain on Bow Lake.Canon EOS-RCanon 15-35 f/4 @ 16mmf/111/15ISO 100
Dawn at Bow Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta
Dawn at Bow Lake, Banff National Park, AlbertaSo here's the second shot from the other morning at Bow Lake in Banff National Park. After the sun started to light up the sky I wanted to create a more interesting shot other than simply pointing at the mountain. I looked down the shoreline from where I was standing and thought that the shoreline leading to a small grove of trees with Mount Jimmy Simpson in the background would make a decent shot. What I don't like about the first photo I posted is its simplicity and lack of "wow". I love the color and subtle light, but because it was so dark when I took the photo, there wasn't a lot of options for compositions until the area lit up a bit more.Canon EOS RCanon 16-35 f/4 @ 16mmf/114s
Fading Darkness, Bow Lake and Crowfoot Mountain, Banff National Park, Alberta
Fading Darkness, Bow Lake and Crowfoot Mountain, Banff National Park, AlbertaI arrived at Bow Lake around 6:45 AM in almost complete darkness, having never been there aside from driving past it once a few years ago. As I was driving towards the turnoff, looking for a sign pointing the way, I glanced out of the driver side window and was greeted by this massive, faintly lit snow capped peak that was as mesmerizing as it was beautiful. This upload is the first image I captured that morning, and aside from boosting the light on the Crowfoot Mountain a touch in order to see detail, the beautiful dark glow of the morning light is left largely intact.Canon EOS RCanon 16-35 f/4 @ 29mmf/1130s
